Nikenbah is a new and almost forgotten small suburban town perched high on the main ridge in Hervey Bay hinterland. It is home to some spectacular views and equally amazing homes. New road infrastructure has made the region far more accessible. Nikenbah boarders both Kawungan and Urraween.
Originally, a coal mining settlement during the 1860s the area boasted several flourishing industries. These were primarily agriculture, grazing and timber-getting.
Landmarks and local attractions include Vernon State Forest, Dundowran Equestrian Park, Wongi State Forest, Lake Lenthall, the Burrum River, Howard Skate Park, Vernon Conservation Park, Wongi Waterholes, the Burrum District Museum and Hervey Bay Go Kart Track.
Another favorite of the area are the famous Nikenbah Markets which are on the first & third Sundays of each month at the Hervey Bay Animal Refuge. Local businesses and services include agricultural machinery & building contractors.
