Welcome to Torbanlea

The Suburb

Torbanlea is a quaint little town located on the Fraser Coast and was one of Queensland’s original coal mining settlements. The town is most famous for its annual picnic races that take place every October. Locals and visitors are immersed in the fabulous racing atmosphere at Torbalea’s Racetrack and Sports grounds. It is dubbed as Queensland’s best picnic races by far!

Enjoy a refreshing drink and meal at the historical Miners Arms Hotel that opened back in 1889. The landmark retains much of its original characteristics from its early days when it was a watering hole for local miners.

There’s a few great swimming, camping and fishing spots close by at Burrum River as well as Lenthall’s Dam and the Wongi Waterholes.

What local residents have to say:

“Great Rural Town Just 5 Minutes from Maryborough & Half the Price!

This place is the best kept secret in the area. It’s very friendly, peaceful and property prices here are very reasonable. And the famous Race-day activities are just awesome. Love living here!
