Hervey Bay education boasts a very large array of options for education with plenty of private and public primary and high schools and day-care/preschool/kindy choices, a Tafe/trade school and University campus.

There are government and private primary school options located throughout the township of Hervey Bay within the suburbs of Urangan, Torquay, Pialba, Eli Waters, Wondunna, Urraween and Kawungan.

There are two government high schools— Urangan State High in Urangan and Hervey Bay State High in Pialba. Both schools offer a very high standard of education with students from both schools often appearing in the top results for Year 12 in Queensland.

Hervey Bay has a special education school located in Scarness. The school is a purpose-built facility catering to students with intellectual and multiple disabilities.
The campus has three school buses that assist with the various transport needs including extra-curricular programs, work placements, community access programs, sports carnivals, school camps, excursions, and music eisteddfods.
Hervey Bay has a very well-equipped TAFE College which provides a range of technical and specialist courses for students of all ages.
Centrally located in Kawungan/Urraween boundary; the campus has several bus routes servicing the college as well as a lot of student parking available.
The Fraser Coast Campus of the University of the Sunshine Coast is conveniently located in Pialba with plenty of transport options available.

A network of local buses servicing the town and outer areas every school day makes transport to and from schools very simple. With extensive safe pathways all around town, many students chose to walk or ride a bike to school.
*A six month e-scooter trial approved on the Fraser Coast has seen an increase in people using the pathways to get around.
